Lilith is Adam's first wife. She was not created by God from his rib, but like him from clay. And is therefore his equal. However, when she refuses to submit to him, she is demonised as a child-murdering demon. So much for the myth. In (S)HE – LILITH REVOLUTION, she is a modern woman. She leaves the ‘paradise’ that is not hers and tells us, in an ironically demonic stand-up act, the story of her creation and her escape from the patriarchal Garden of Eden.
Millennia later, Jewish artist Mara fights her own inner battle. Torn between Vienna, Berlin and Israel, she finds herself in a world that promises paradise but offers only emptiness. Her only escape: the theatre. And her dialogue with Lilith. Mara's unfulfilled longing and her insatiable hunger for love and acceptance manifest themselves as a play within a play. The evening also incorporates the music of David Bowie – newly arranged songs – striking a balance between mythological narrative and monologue performance, between stand-up and concert, between intimate revelation and grand spectacle.
Tamara Stern was born in Berlin and grew up in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. After completing her acting training in Israel, she received the Israeli Theatre Award for Best Young Actress in 2000. Since the 2000s, she has been working in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, including at the Vorarlberger Landestheater. She has been part of the aktionstheater ensemble since 2020 and has enjoyed great success on stage with her solo musical programmes.
